Daria Szwedowicz (she/her) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (BCACC # 20671). Her counselling approach centres the creation of a safe and supportive relationship with her clients to set a foundation for working together. She is passionate about relational approaches to therapy to address interpersonal and family of origin challenges.
She started her work in this field in 2016 doing outreach work in Edmonton, Alberta supporting folks affected by addiction, trauma, and marginalization. After moving to Vancouver in 2020, she continued outreach work in the downtown eastside. In addition to working at Safe Space she is now a concurrent disorders counsellor where she works with people experiencing addiction, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and chronic pain.
Daria offers individual and couples therapy and may be booked for in-person, phone or video sessions.
Her primary modality is Emotion-Focused Therapy but her work also integrates theory and interventions from Polyvagal Theory, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to suit the unique needs of each client. She is neurodivergent, sex-positive and welcomes working with individuals and couples of all genders and sexualities.
