Safe Space Counselling Services is proud to be a clinical practicum site for Master's-level students completing a clinical practicum in fulfillment of the requirements of a Master's degree in counselling psychology or social work with a focus on clinical counselling and psychotherapy. Our practicum program provides hands-on support to help Master's-level students gain a solid foundation in clinical counselling skills and competency.
As intake for a placement can be competitive, below is some information about our intake process.
- To apply, please submit your application by the deadline of the intake period you are applying for. Information about our current intake periods may be found on our Join Us page. When intake is open, you may email your resume and cover letter to: info@safespacecounselling.ca
- As our practicum includes delivery of services both in person and virtually, please note your availability for in-person sessions onsite with clients, as well as for clinical supervision.
- Due to the populations we work with, experience working with families, neurodiversity and diverse/BIPOC populations is an asset, as well as training, experience and/or interest in attachment-focused, relational/systemic, somatic and/or anti-oppressive approaches.
- Our practicum may involve a mix of individual, couples and/or family therapy, depending on our clients' needs, so an interest in all three types of therapy would be ideal.
- As we only consider applications during certain times of the year, if you submit an application outside of an intake period, you may need to resubmit your application when intake re-opens in order to be considered for a placement for that intake period. Please check our Join Us page for information on our current/upcoming intake periods.
- While we greatly appreciate the interest of each applicant, due to the large number of applications we receive, only shortlisted applicants may be contacted.
