About

Dea (she/her) is a practicum student counsellor completing her Master’s of Counselling Psychology at Adler University. Her educational background in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour, Sociology, and Mental Health allows her to approach clients’ concerns from an interdisciplinary, broadly informed perspective. She has been involved in research in educational settings, aiming to understand the impacts of school climate on youth experiences. Dea has many years of professional experience in behaviour intervention, working with neurodiverse children ages 5-12 facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. Dea provides one-on-one support and group facilitation to young children using creativity and play as a vehicle for teaching and strengthening skills.

Approach

Dea is warm and empathetic; her relaxed and playful style allows her to easily connect with individuals at different stages in life. Dea is committed to empowering youth by celebrating their strengths and embracing their unique abilities. She believes healing and change happen in relation and hopes to connect not only as a professional but as a fellow human. In her free time, Dea enjoys moving her body, reading, spending time outdoors, and creating.

Professional Experience

Dea has clinical experience working with youth, young adults, and families to address mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, suicidality & self-harm, ASD, ADHD, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and self-esteem challenges. She is interested in helping families cope with significant life transitions by providing tools and support to parents. Dea’s approach to counselling is client-centred and trauma-informed, emphasizing collaboration and choice. She applies CBT and ACT principles to address client concerns by normalizing mental health struggles, clarifying what’s important, and taking actionable steps in the face of adversity.
